The new Valorant season has finally arrived and will be accessible for the next 50 days. With the arrival of the new season, we got introduced to a new agent, a new skin bundle, and a new battle pass. The new agent’s code name is Gekko, and his real name is Mateo. His age is currently unknown, but we know he is from Los Angeles, California. From the in-game dialogue, we can tell he has a very outgoing personality and is friendly. We can also tell he’s really funny by the way we could see in the teasers for his arrival, he calls Brimstone “Beard Papi”. Also by hearing in-game dialogue we find out that he lives with another agent in the Valorant Protocol, Yoru. Gekko is also trained by Harbor and seems to be good friends with Reyna. Gekko’s agent contract has ten tiers, just like all the other agents, and I will be listing everything in his contract. Starting from tier one and going up to ten, you first get the Fierce Form Spray, Valorant Gekko Card, Primordial Title, Creature Crew Spray, Gekko becomes playable in-game, Cruiser Buddy, Gekko Spray, Vibin’ Title, Out on a Limb Card, and lastly the Sidekick Shorty. Gekko’s abilities are all centered around the animals that he can create. One of his abilities called “Mosh’s Pit’' deploys a molly onto the ground that will deal damage to enemies within its range after a short period. This ability is not reusable. The next one is “Wingman.” This little guy can plant or defuse the spike for you. He is a reusable ability if he is still alive and can also stun enemies if you direct him in their direction. If Wingman is on his way to plant the spike and gets caught in a cipher trip wire, for example, he’ll just keep moving and ignore it. This is the same case for a lot of other abilities. His next ability is called “Dizzy”. Dizzy can flash enemies and slows them down for a short period, and this ability is reusable. All of his reusable abilities require him to go pick them up. It doesn’t magically generate back into his utility kit like other agent abilities. Lastly, his ultimate is called “Thrash”. You will be able to go and control Thrash from a first-person perspective and run into enemies. When you hit any enemy they will become detained and unable to move for a short period. This ability is also reusable. That’s all we know about Gekko for right now. We will see when the developers decide to nerf him because people are already worried about all of his abilities causing trouble in-game.
Moving onto the new skin bundle the community has been excited about, we were introduced to “Oni 2.0”. We had previously gotten an oni skin bundle, and it is a huge fan favorite, so by popular request, they made another one! This time, the bundle includes skins for the Vandal, Frenzy, Ares, Melee, and Bulldog. The upgrades for the Bulldog, Vandal, Frenzy, and Ares include a finisher, VFX, sound effects, and some color variants. The colors are red/black, black/gold, green/pink, and white/black. The upgrades for the melee are the same color variants, base, and sound effects. Then you also get the Oni Card, Oni Spray, and color-changing buddy (depending on the color variant you use the color will match). In total, this bundle costs 7,100 Valorant Points, which is $80. You can also buy whatever you want out of the bundle separately. The featured skins in the battle pass are Signature, Topotek, and Tilde. The Signature skyline features skins for the Sheriff, Stinger, Marshal, and Guardian. Topotek features skins for the Ghost, Bucky, Odin, and Phantom. Tilde features skins for the Judge, Operator, Bulldog, Shorty, and Melee. The buddies that are featured in the battle pass are Desert Rose, EP6//2 Coin, Lucky Star, Tilde, Cat-Eye, Topotek, Extra Crispy, Egg in a Basket, Bounce House, and Golden Lucky star. The titles are Slay, Big Brain, and Ace. The sprays are Tug of War, Huh?, Signature, Charging Station, Dolla Dolla Bill Y’all, We Made it, Let’s Go!, Well Played, Wanted Tactibear, Bye Op, Wide Swing, Whaat?, Scoop of Smoke, Too Early for This, and Omen Cat Dance. The cards are Topotek, Spycam schema, Tilde, Setting Records, Boot Camp//So Much More, Boot Camp//Two Mountains, Boot Camp// Stealth Mode, Commander Bruno, Gentle Breeze, Signature, Brunch at Crown, Pixel Moments, and Gold Setting Records. There will also be 160 Radianite to upgrade your skins. The battle pass is 1,000 Valorant Points, which is $10 in total. Battle pass items cannot be purchased individually, you would have to purchase the whole thing to get the item you want. That’s all that’s new to Valorant this season, and I’m really happy with the results. I can’t wait to see how Gekko’s character develops later in the game when more lore gets added. We don’t have any more lore updates besides Gekko’s arrival in Valorant. The Valorant community has already been talking about the possible nerfs that Gekko might receive. The community thinks he’s too strong of an agent at the moment, but we’ll see how it plays out over the next few weeks as more and more people start to unlock and play him.
