Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was an American Christian minister, activist, and political leader during the civil rights movement. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was born in Georgia on January 15, 1929, and was assassinated on April 4, 1968. His life was taken, not because he did anything wrong, but because of the color of his skin and that he was fighting to end racism and segregation. He had a wife, Coretta Scott King, and four children, Martin Luther King III, Yolanda King, Bernice King, and Dexter King. He gave over 2,500 public speeches, his most famous one being “I Have A Dream.” We celebrate Martin Luther King Jr Day to remember him, his legacy, what he was fighting for, and why he was fighting for it.
