Regular season softball recently came to a close, but that wasn’t the end for the Juniata softball team. The team continued into the Tri-Valley League playoffs and beat East Juniata, putting the Juniata girls into the championship game. The all-or-nothing game with Susquenita was a close one, with Juniata coming out on top with a 1-0 score. This game was history-making for Juniata, marking the first-ever Tri-Valley championship win. With league playoffs out of the way, the team played their first-round district game as the second seed on Monday, May 20th, against Richland. The game was over before the bottom of the seventh inning as Juniata was victorious with a 6-0 score. Liz Gasior had 19 strikeouts, two hits, and an RBI. Shaylynn Armstrong, Savannah Marshall, and Alexa Kuhn each had two hits and an RBI as well. Sophia Smith had a hit and an RBI. This past game and all those going forward are one-loss eliminations. Juniata’s next game will be against the fourth seed, Central Cambria, on Thursday, May 23rd, at 3:00 pm. The game will be at home, and no tickets are necessary for spectator entry.
