This year, the Juniata County Marching Band presents an intergalactic field show, including songs from all over the timeline. The space theme sets a powerful and exciting mood for the audience, setting the tone to help get them ready for the game.

Our first song is titled, Also Sprach Zarathustra, which may have a funky or unrecognizable name, but you’ll know the tune the second we start playing. It was originally composed by Richard Strauss in 1896, but its popularity comes from the film 2001: A Space Odyssey.

The second song of the show is the Star Trek Finale. This is, obviously, from Star Trek. It contains melodies from Star Trek - The Next Generation and the theme from the original TV series. The band can be seen forming the Star Trek logo near the beginning of the song. Towards the end of the performance, they resemble an explosion or volcanic-like formation.

If you’ve watched Guardians of the Galaxy, you’ll instantly recognize the classic hit Hooked On a Feeling. Originally written by Mark James, its popularity has come from the band Blue Swede. The chant at the beginning of the song was inspired by the song “Running Bear” by Johnny Preston. This song is definitely a fan favorite!

The last piece, and arguably the most identifiable one, is Star Wars: The Force Awakens - Part 1. It includes the two segments—Star Wars (Main Theme) and Rey’s Theme. Again, this is clearly from the Star Wars franchise. The composer behind this masterpiece is the famous John Williams, who has composed countless other pieces for popular movies.

“It is out of this world!” -Jessica Maben, sarcastically.

“Target worthy,” -Eargle. Considering the Targets prices nowadays, that’s pretty solid.
