The Juniata boy’s soccer season recently came to a close at the start of November as they unfortunately saw defeat against Trinity Catholic. The team lost 7-1 in the first round of the state tournament. Juniata’s goal was scored by Ricky Guante, unassisted. They had an 8-5 record in the Tri-Valley league, which put them into the league championship against Halifax. The Halifax game was 0-0 until PK’s, but unfortunately resulted in a 3-1 Juniata loss, Daniel Lopez made the only goal. Leading up to the championship game, Juniata took the opportunity to redeem themselves following a tough loss against Halifax. Juniata played their first round of Districts against Phillipsburg. The 3-2 win led Juniata to the second round to defeat Richland— previous District championship winners of four consecutive years— 3-0. Prior to the final game, the boys found victory against Penn Cambria, making Juniata the winners of the District 6 Championship. The resulting score was 3-0. Anthony Maridiaga had two goals that night and Ricky Guante added one as well. Overall, the team had a record of 17 wins and 7 losses for the 2024 season.
