This month in the art room, Mrs. Sutton’s 3rd period painting class was challenged to make paintings in the style of famous artist Georgia O’Keeffe! O’Keeffe was known for her desert landscapes, skull paintings, and closeups of flowers- all painted in her beautiful, surreal style. One main point of O’Keeffe’s paintings was her use of complementary colors, so students were challenged to make the primary colors of their choosing appear in their paintings. Below, you’ll see my own contribution to this project! The main focal point of this painting is the realistic cow skull that makes up a majority of this piece- but the complementary colors of orange and blue can be found on the butterflies scattered throughout. If you like what you see, make sure to check out the display case by the office to see even more great works like this one!
