If you could have any celebrity be your teacher, who would you choose? I asked three of my peers this exact question. The answers I received from them were… interesting… to say the least.
Tyler Rosenberry, a senior, believes that Kevin James would make the most ideal school teacher. He firmly argued that James would excel in teaching physical education, saying that, “He was in Here Comes the Boom.” In the film Here Comes the Boom, James portrays a character who, ironically, is a high school teacher and becomes a mixed-martial arts fighter in order to save his school's music program. Because of his selflessness, dedication, and well-rounded personality in that movie, Rosenberry thinks that Kevin James would be the perfect man to teach kids.
Ross Fogleman, also a senior, strongly thinks that Dan Aykroyd would make an excellent teacher of some form of science class because of his time as a ghostbuster in the film series Ghostbusters. He stated, “One of the best parts of a class is having a teacher be derailed, and Dan would be so easy to derail.” Fogleman also debated that because Aykroyd makes tons of money with his vodka company, Crystal Head Vodka, he would want to teach purely for his own enjoyment and not for the money which means he would be significantly more invested in it.
If I personally could pick any celebrity to educate me, I would pick John Mulaney. He doesn’t necessarily have any of the qualifications, but he is an English major. Mulaney also has a strong presence and comical voice that make me want to pay attention to him and what he has to say. He would probably get sidetracked frequently and start telling amusing stories that the class could probably gain some sort of obscure life lesson from and I believe that would make me look forward to having his class every day.
No matter what celebrity you personally think would make the best teacher, I think we can all agree that it may not be best for our education to have someone like Christopher Walken or Will Smith teaching a class, but it would certainly be fun. Who would you choose to be your celebrity teacher?
