This month, we’re taking a trip to the 5th period sculpture class! This class was assigned the task of sculpting realistic human heads with a twist- their head then had to become a part of something that isn’t human. Using clay, plaster, aluminum foil, and wire, every artist had their free reign to make whatever potentially creepy creature their heart desired. Our artist in question this month is artist Ace Sloop, a sophomore here at Juniata High School. Ace said that they’re a big fan of horror, and the movie The Mist inspired his outcome for this project. This movie features acid-shooting spiders, and you can very clearly see their inspiration in this project. Ace said that this was probably his favorite project this year, and we can see why! Ace captured the essence of my nightmares perfectly, and that’s definitely something to be proud of!
