Since it’s a spooky month, it’s time for a creepy movie review! In this article, we’ll be reviewing a classic 2000s movie, Coraline. Coraline was created in 2009 and is a stop-motion animated film. It’s prevalent this time of year as it is considered a Halloween movie classic. This is one of my favorite movies because of how beautifully made it is, and the voice acting is fantastic. The writers did an excellent job of writing out the script and plot. Throughout the movie, you can see hints of a plot twist, and I think that’s cool! Coraline is such a great protagonist. She’s adventurous, intelligent, and cunning, and she’s not afraid of anything. We see Coraline show all of her unique traits throughout the movie, and it really adds to the plot and builds her character well. The creators also did a great job with character design too. The outfits and styles the characters wear complement their personalities and voices.
The creators kept the movie very similar to the book, which is excellent for anyone fond of saying, “The book was better.” They made minor changes that didn’t impact the story too much. For example, the door in the book is an average door that you can walk through, but in the movie, it’s a door that you can only crawl through. Overall, it’s an excellent movie; I would rate it a solid 9/10. It’s family-friendly, so that you can watch it with your younger siblings, older siblings, parents, grandparents, etc. Coraline would be a terrific first horror movie for more youthful kids that they would enjoy. I encourage you to watch it, and I hope you enjoy it just as much as I did!
