PIAA STATES

The 2022 PIAA XC States meet was held on November 5 at Hershey PA, the same course as the Foundations invite earlier this year. After an amazing result at districts, the boys were ready to perform well at states this year. Senior Logan Stawser wanted to go after Danville’s senior Rory Lieberman to grab 1st place this year. Both sophomores Wyatt Stroup and Joey Bomberger wanted to have a chance at medaling this year with a top 25 placement. As for the boys team overall, they wanted to place in the top 5. The conditions were not ideal, at racing time it was 77 degrees and the course was all rotted up. With the first mile Strawser was up in 3rd, the rest of the boys were up in the 100s at the mile. As the race finished, it was not what the boys were wanting. Strawser kicked at the finish for a 3rd place with a time of 16:18. Stroup finished 77th with a time of 18:17. Bomberger finished 110 with a time of 18:42. Sophomore Wesley Ehrisman finished 127th with a time of 18:53. Rounding out the scorers was freshman Levi Zeiders finishing 193rd with a time of 19:50. Finishing 6th and 7th was freshman Rickey Guante with a time of 20:17 with a placement of 207th, and sophomore Charlie Telfer with a time of 23:18 with a placement of 243rd. The team overall finished 10th. Strawser stated for his race, “The legs were heavy, and just nothing there today.” As for the whole season the team did amazing, making new PRs and getting good placements. Some of the team will be heading up to New York for the footlocker XC regional on the 26th. Also a nice accomplishment in the AAA race, with senior Brian Dicola setting a new course record with a time of 15:24:20.
