November Movie Review:
After spending all evening playing football or watching it with your uncles and cousins you only see twice a year, or perhaps eating one too many slices of grandma’s famous pumpkin pie on one of America’s favorite holidays, one may want to settle in to watch a movie to relax. Free Birds is a film starring the interesting pair of well known actors like Woody Harrelson and Owen Wilson that may just make you more confused in your dazed food coma state. The film features Harrelson and Wilson playing both a turkey pardoned by the president and one perhaps overly buff turkey. Both take a whimsical journey back to the year 1621 before the first thanksgiving; their mission to get turkey off the menu for good. The film really makes no sense at all and, while may be enjoyed by young children, to others it may just be a headache to logically follow the plot and horrific attempts at what seems to be prepubescent jokes. The movie received a staggeringly low audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, being a 44% and overall reviews called this film an attempt to live up to Pixar’s legendary standards. Personally I believe the only thing keeping this piece from being the five year old stale stuffing your mom keeps in the cabinet, is the reputation of Harrelson and Wilson. Maybe keep this one in the case.
