As the first month of the new year wraps up, the Juniata Boys Basketball team has an overall record of nine wins and ten losses. Currently, in the Tri-Valley conference, the team is 5-6. Juniata opened 2023 with a 51-45 win against Susquenita and has gone on to win a total of five games so far this January. Three days after the Susquenita game, the boys beat East Juniata in an exciting game ending with a score of 43-40. After the rival game, Juniata went on a short losing streak with closely packed games against Mifflinburg, Halifax, and Upper Dauphin Area High School. The home game against Upper Dauphin ended in a very close score of 49-48. The Juniata boys were still able to regain their luck in their next game against Line Mountain, which resulted in an impressive score of 62-38. Juniata lost to Midd-West the next day but redeemed themselves once again with a 46-31 win against Newport. Although the team lost to SJCA and Greenwood, they were able to secure the win this Saturday for senior night. Seniors Luis Caraballo, Ebel Gonzalez, Makih Hunt, Bryce Rush, and Caleb Smith were all recognized before beating Penns Valley Area 42-36. We wish the team the best for their final game this month and the remainder of their 2022-23 season.
